Description & Services
Description of service(s) ESJMBA… The Fun, Safe, Place to Play
In the East Saint John Minor Basketball Association, our priorities are simple. Kids should
· have fun
· develop skills
Basketball is a fast-paced sport that is fun to play. As with any sport, injuries can happen; however, basketball is primarily a game of running, passing, and strategy in a closely supervised environment. Although it is relatively inexpensive, basketball is good exercise and enables players to develop skills and self-confidence in a team environment.
The East Saint John Minor Basketball Association (ESJMBA) is committed to promoting a healthy, active lifestyle through the development and participation in the sport of basketball in the Saint John area.
The ESJMBA is a not-for-profit organization that offers both basketball and fun to the youth of Saint John, New Brunswick. Established in 1989, the ESJMBA’s objectives have been to “promote, develop and encourage participation in the sport of basketball in the Saint John area.” A secondary goal of this organization is to initiate and implement coaching programs that provide training in teaching key basketball fundamentals.
Leadership: To provide leadership within the Saint John basketball community. To maintain an inventory of certified coaches & officials.
Quality Programs: To promote and support individual and collective basketball initiatives. To review and evaluate basketball offerings in East Saint John on a regular basis and provide recommendations for consideration and development. To organize and host National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) courses to increase our association’s coaching capacity. To encourage youth participation in positive healthy lifestyle activities in the Saint John community.
Supporting Growth: To establish and coordinate ESJMBA’s participation at Basketball New Brunswick Provincial tournaments and encourage increased youth participation in the sport of basketball.
Cooperation with Others: Working with others partners to avoid gaps and overlaps, and to help develop a coordinated, efficient and effective system within Saint John.
